About Seagulls Swimming

Welcome to the Swimming section of the website.

 

The competitive swimming side of Seagulls was formed back in 1978 and since then many hundreds of local children have enjoyed swimming for the club. Seagulls swimming squad coaches are committed to not only ensuring that we have a competitive squad but that our swimmers also enjoy what they are doing.  We are also not elitist preferring an ethos based on inclusion where we like to give everybody the opportunity to join, improve and enjoy their swimming.

We have a healthy squad size and so the swimmers are divided into lanes dependant on the age and ability. Whilst the focus is on technique and speed, Seagulls have also not lost sight of the fact that the sport must also be enjoyable as otherwise the swimmers will not 'stick at it'.

Seagulls actively encourage their swimmers to excel and we have a tier of motivational prizes to recognise and reward not only swimming excellence but also effort and commitment.

Whilst members of Seagulls swimming squad are taught the fundamentals of competitive swimming including the further development & perfection of stroke skills, as well as sportsmanship & teamwork they also get to meet & interact with new people whilst enjoying the health benefits of regular physical activity.
