Social Events

Throughout the year Seagulls stage fun events on order to develop team building between the parents and swimmers but also to raise vital funds for the club.

Below is a guide to some of our annual events and some pictures snapped along the way.

Presentation Evening
At the end of January each year we host the clubs Presentation evening, where Seagulls swimmers gain the recognition they deserve.  In 2006 and 2007 the club had to hire a bigger venue and used the Fitness First stadium where Bournemouth AFC play. For the last 2 years the presentation night has been at Hoburne Park in Highcliffe.

Duck Race
At Easter time each year the club holds its annual Duck race in the torrent and torrential waters of the Priory mill stream in Christchurch.  Around 1000 rubbers ducks are set off in seeded heats where the first 10 across the line reach the Grand Final.  Ducks are purchased at a £1 each and the winning 3 ducks win prizes!

You would be quackers not to enter!

Beach Party
As the days become longer in the summer months all of children descend on Mudeford Beach in Christchurch where many events are held, from 3 legged relays, to fancy dress races, and of course the lifeguard event of Beach Flags (okay painted wooden spoons) is undertaken, an event that tests the reaction and explosive power of all that enter. Parents, meanwhile sit back and enjoy a glass of wine or two by soaking in the last rays of the day.

Quiz Night
When the nights start to draw in and just before the clocks go back in October, teams battle it out in the Annual Seagulls Quiz Night for which competition is fierce and prizes large. The teams battle it out over many different rounds to be crowned the brains of Seagulls.

Christmas Fun Gala
On the last Sunday as Christmas magic starts to settle Seagulls hosts its annual Fun Gala where Committee members and Coaches with their bands of merry swimmers battle it out against each other to win the prizes.  Swimming with tights, gloves, socks and scarf’s, swimming in trains and chains, with floats and balancing toys on your head ensures fun is had throughout.  After the event an end of year raffle and buffet can be enjoyed by all.
